The Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform Mr Gugile Nkwinti will on Saturday 19 August 2017 preside over the Bela-Bela Communal Property Association (CPA) prize giving ceremony invited by the Vumelana Advisory Fund.

The prize giving ceremony will take place at Langkuil Farm 13 JR near the town of Bela-Bela starting at 10:00.

The Bela-Bela CPA won the Award in the category for well-established communal property institutions (operational for more than 10 years) while the Jabulani CPA won the category for emerging communal property institutions (operational for less than 10 years). They also received R200 000 in prize money.

The Vumelana Governance Award was launched in 2014 by Vumelana. The Limpopo-based CPAs have always came out tops since the inception of the Awards. The Winner in 2014 was Moletele CPA, then Maetjeni CPA in 2015 both from Mopani district and now Bela-Bela for 2016.

Bela-Bela CPA claimed land is situated in the scenic Mabula area of the Waterberg District in the Limpopo Province. It includes the well-known Mabalingwe Game Reserve.

The Award aims to reward and encourage good governance practices by Communal Property Institutions. Those CPAs and Trusts that demonstrate effective governance and administration stand a chance to win cash prizes that can be used for further development and growth.

The call for applications for the 2016 Vumelana Governance Award was opened on 15 September and closed on 25 November 2016. The shortlisting and final adjudication took place earlier this year.
