Department of Rural Development and Land Reform to hand over farming equipment worth R26.1 million to small scale farmers in Limpopo

The Department of Rural Development and Land Reform (DRDLR) will officially hand over farming equipment worth R26.1 million, acquired through the departmental programme on Rural Enterprise and Industrial Development (REID), to small scale farmers, cooperatives and land reform beneficiaries. The identified small-scale farmers and the cooperatives, totalling 21 in number, come from all five districts in the province.

The event will be hosted by Deputy Minister KC Mashego–Dlamini, who will hand over tractors, boom sprays, maize planters, disc harrows and mouldboard ploughs to deserving beneficiaries.

The objective of the REID programme is to facilitate the development of rural enterprises and industries in areas with economic development potential. This is done to improve the standard of living and contribute positively to the economy of South Africa to alleviate poverty, unemployment and inequality.
