Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform, Ms Maite Nkoana-Mashabane,
together with the Premier of Free State, Ms Sisi Ntombela, will host the rural
women event to commemorate the International Day of Rural Women on Monday 15
October 2018. The event will take place at the Black Mountain Hotel in
Thaba-Nchu Local Municipality, Free State Province.

various stakeholders including local government, government departments and
State Owned Entities to discuss areas of common interest and to provide

Department of Rural Development and Land Reform joins the rest of the world in
commemorating the International Day of Rural Women (the International Day of
Rural Women is celebrated on the 15 of October annually) as a day to recognize
the role of rural women in development and in agriculture.
Women have benefitted and they continue to benefit from the department’s
efforts to improve its programs and policies to ensure that women in rural
communities enjoy a better life. It also recognizes that a lot more has to be
