Deputy Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform, Mr Mcebisi Skwatsha will on Wednesday, 18 July 2018, visit Mbekweni Higher Primary School to hand over school bags and fleece blankets to 22 learners with disabilities, as part of celebrating the Nelson Mandela Centenary.
Celebrated under the theme, "Be The Legacy", the Nelson Mandela Centenary Celebration gives citizens an opportunity to recommit themselves to the ideals and values Tata Madiba espoused during his lifetime.
The school, Deputy Minister Skwatsha identified was established in 1972 as a mainstream school which accommodated able bodied learners. However, because of inclusive education system, the school has since developed and also enrolled learners with disabilities. The school built 2 classrooms to accommodate both junior learners (ages 7-13 years) and senior leaners (14-16 years) living with disabilities. The 2 classrooms accommodate 22 learners in total.
Deputy Minister Skwatsha will dedicate 1 hour tomorrow to interact with 22 learners of Mbekweni Higher Primary School.
Members of the media are invited to join DM Skwatsha in an event that will take place as follows:
