The Deputy Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform, Ms. Candith Mashego-Dlamini will be hosting an Imbizo in Kassiesbaai, Arniston in the Western Cape. The Deputy Minister will update the fishing community on the progress being made by the Department on Infrastructure Development Projects in the town and the Cape Agulhas Municipality as a whole.
The community engagement exercise forms part of the National Imbizo Focus Week activities which affords political principals an opportunity to engage government led efforts to stimulate growth in the South African economy.
The (RID) Rural Infrastructure Development Branch of the department has been highly active in the area, constructing storm water infrastructure, roads, paving walkways and generally improving infrastructure in the towns in the Overberg District. The total cost for roads upgrade amounts to over R10 million in Kassiesbaai.
