The Land Claims Commission in the Eastern Cape will lead a delegation of land claimants comprised of Traditional Leaders and Beneficiaries on a two day working visit to the Ravele Communal Property Association in Limpopo on 12 -13 June 2017.
The visit is for the Ncora Communal Property Association of the Eastern Cape, with the Chiefs and members of the Co-op to meet with their Limpopo counterparts in order to engage and exchange information regarding the projects. In addition to this the delegation will seek to gain insight into how the Ravele CPA manages its community farms.
Despite challenges facing most Communal Property Associations, the Ravele CPA has distinguished itself as a thriving farming business contributing immensely to economic growth and development of the local community and the Province.
The Ravele CPA attributes its success to good management and cordial relations with the traditional authority. This year the CPA is projecting over R40 million in profits.
The Ravele community had their rights to 649 hectares of tropical land at a cost of R41 million restored by the Commission on Restitution of Land Rights in 2005.
The Ravele farms are highly productive in avocados, macadamia nuts, bananas, citrus, litchis and vegetables.
