The Limpopo Regional Land Claims Commission has deployed senior officials to the Nkowankowa area in Tzaneen to address the community on the land claims process. This comes after members of the community indicated their desire for accurate information on the restitution of land rights programme.
The Commission will engage land sector stakeholders, claimants and prospective land claimants at Nkowankowa Community Hall on Thursday 14 June 2018.
In addition to this the Commission is also responding to recent reports that unscrupulous people are targeting villages in the Tzaneen area of the Mopani district under Hosi Mhlaba Traditional Authority, namely Petanenge, Dan, Julesburg, Bergersdorp and Khujwane collecting R40 per person promising them that they will speed up their land claims.
The commission wishes to re-iterate that it does not charge money for the processing of land claims and any request for money is therefore a scam.
Despite activating and dispatching security personnel within the department to visit the area in advance to establish the truth regarding the scam, the Commission is intensifying its proactive district based stakeholder engagement sessions speaking directly to affected communities about the progress of their claims.
Details of the session are as follows;
Date: 14 June 2018
Venue: Nkowankowa Community Hall, near Tzaneen
