The Minister of Department of Rural Development and Land Reform (DRDLR), Ms Maite Nkoana-Mashabane will, on 12 April 2019, host a National Spatial Development Framework (NSDF) Indaba at the Gallagher Estate, Halfway House in Midrand, Gauteng. The Indaba is being conducted in partnership with the Ministry of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, led by Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma.
The Indaba seeks to raise awareness regarding the NSDF as a transformative tool for dealing with the triple challenges of poverty, unemployment and inequality, by bringing key stakeholders from various sectors of society together to share knowledge and exchange learning.
Furthermore, the Indaba will give the Departments an opportunity to update stakeholders on the progress of NSDF and share the work done with regards to the development of the NSDF. This will include the broader consultation process required in terms of the Act 16 of 2013 (SPLUMA), which is to solicit inputs from leaders within three spheres of government (National, Provincial, Local), traditional leaders, Community Based Organisations (CBOs), Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and the private sector.
