The Minister of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development, Ms Thoko Didiza, together with the Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, will on Monday 27 January 2020 be welcoming 1000 National Rural Youth Services Corps (NARYSEC)’s youth for the implementation of the District Development Model (DDM) at the NARYSEC College in Thaba Nchu, Free state.
The department has repurposed and prioritises NARYSEC to be utilised to contribute towards the implementation of the DDM.
The NARYSEC programme, a flagship youth skills development programme, is making a meaningful contribution to government’s broader youth empowerment initiatives.
The programme targets unemployed young people from the rural areas throughout the country.
Since its inception in 2010, the programme is benefitting more than 11 000 young people from across the country. Training completed by some of the NARYSEC recruits include: Nature Conservation, Artisanry, Plumbing, Electrical Engineering, Office Administration, Building and Construction, among others.
