Opening up opportunities for women to participate equally in the agricultural economy
The Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development, Mr Mcebisi Skwatsha will on Thursday, 8 August 2019, host a Dialogue on Sustainable Production and Development on farms, projects and co-operatives allocated, owned and managed by women in agriculture.

Prior to the engagement dialogue, the Deputy Minister will conduct oversight visit to the farm Papkuil 855 LS which is owned and managed by women. The farm Papkuil was acquired under the Land Reform Programme through the Proactive Land Acquisition Strategy (PLAS) at a cost of R 2.700 000. In an effort to develop the farm, the department invested infrastructure worth R 4 313 651.31 for the production inputs, infrastructure costs, implements, equipment and machinery for over a period of three years.
The dialogue is targeting farms owned by women acquired through the PLAS including projects and co-operatives funded by the department through the Recapitalisation and Development Programme (RECAP), Rural Enterprise and Industrial Development (REID) and Rural Infrastructure Development (RID) amongst others.

The engagement dialogue will afford women beneficiaries of the departmental programmes and services an opportunity to connect and interact directly with the Deputy Minister, the Limpopo MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development, officials and other relevant sector stakeholders for sustained development.

Through the quest to address the triple challenges of the country, which are poverty, unemployment and inequality, the dialogue will afford the beneficiaries with a chance to share their successes, challenges, aspirations and voice their opinions regarding possible ways they can mitigate and support each other.

The discussions will emphasise more on the roles, responsibilities and accountability of both government and beneficiaries with regard to the massive investments made available through land acquisition and allocation, farming equipment and other infrastructure development projects implemented across the province.
The ultimate objective is to obtain undiluted feedback on how beneficiaries are receiving services in our endeavor to improve our efforts and to commercialise land reform farms.
