The Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform Mr Gugile Nkwinti will on Sunday 23 April 2017 visit the Ravele community restitution farms in Limpopo to honour the invite by the farm's Communal Property Association's (CPA) Executive Committee.
During the Minister's visit the CPA Executive Committee want to showcase the farming successes to the government and other beneficiaries of the restitution programme.
The farms are highly productive and are contributing positively towards food security in the country.
The department restored 460 hectares of tropical land worth R34 million to the Ravele community in 2005 after their successful settlement of the land claim lodged in terms of the Restitution of Land Rights, 1994 as amended. The farms are located in the Levubu area under the Makhado Local Municipality in the Vhembe District.
The restored farms are producing avocados, macadamia nuts, bananas, citrus, litchis and other vegetables.
